Sugiura Yasuyoshi is a naturalist whose works explore the interrelationships between man and nature, man and the Earth. “Peony,” created on commission from Humble House Taipei, greatly enlarges the subject plant to reveal its rich and complex appearance, coaxing forth an even stronger sense of actual existence than the genuine article and piquing the observer's curiosity, compelling them to get closer to actual plants and experience the joy of communing with nature.
